Overview

Standard Beverage is seeking an Accountant ready for their next growth opportunity, located in our Wichita office. The Accountant role includes various general accounting duties with an acute focus on Accounts Receivables functions. Duties will include system monitoring to ensure company financial policies and procedures are followed, with timely receipt of payment and accuracy. We are looking for a self-starter to add to the strength of the SBC accounting team that is willing to learn multiple functions as well as bring new solutions. Problem solving and critical thinking are a must. It is a great opportunity to grow alongside our team.

Responsibilities

  • Key contact for Supplier and Customer Accounts Receivables. Strong desire to understand and research root cause when reviewing discrepancies. Record related daily bank activity and create routine receivables.
  • Research past due receivables, propose and adjust transactions in system, manage follow-up with the use of aging reports and investigate any discrepancies.  Collaborate with internal departments to address root causes and improve processes.
  • Respond to supplier and customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports, including gallonage tax, enforcement tax, use tax, and customs payments.
  • Support the month-end close process, including journal entries related to receivables and other assigned categories. Demonstrated experience in ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review, including but not limited to receivables, cash, and fixed assets.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and propose practical solutions; maintain accurate and up-to-date written procedures.
  • Perform additional duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Desire to buy in on processes and manage to company policy.   
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic environment while meeting deadlines and handling high-volume accounting activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with coworkers and outside parties.
