We are seeking an experienced Director of Transportation to lead our delivery operations to retail liquor stores, grocery stores, c-stores, bars, and restaurants across the state of Kansas. This role will have responsibility for providing the overall leadership, direction, and development of the Transportation team – including delivery drivers, linehaul drivers, and managers. This role requires a strategic and dynamic leader who can ensure timely, efficient, and safe delivery to our customers while maintaining full compliance with all DOT and FMCSA laws and regulations. The Director of Transportation will be responsible for providing both strategic and tactical direction to drive continuous improvement and develop long-term, sustainable solutions, as well as identifying key performance metrics for measuring and improving operational efficiencies and performance.

This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in direct store delivery, transportation management, fleet maintenance, and team leadership, preferably in the food or beverage industry.  This role will also partner directly with the SBC Fleet Manager, who is responsible for the fleet of 75 + heavy duty trucks and trailers, along with our light duty fleet as well.  5+ years of experience leading a large-scale driver workforce within a transportation or distribution environment is required.

Limited travel (15%) within the state of Kansas required.

  • Evaluate current delivery infrastructure – including equipment, processes, personnel, and technology, to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
  • Oversee the maintenance and optimal use of the company's fleet of over 75 delivery trucks and trailers, ensuring all vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant with regulations, and properly maintained.
  • Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance, including regular inspections, audits, and safety protocols.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors.
  • Partner with the Fleet Manager on optimizing fleet utilization, maximizing equipment life-cycles, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with all safety initiatives and DOT regulations.
